I've lived in Idaho since 1974, though I spent my childhood in the Mid-West. My first job was in the Litho Art Department of Hallmark Cards headquarters in Kansas City, MO. I was 18 years old and I learned an incredible amount about color and value contrasts in painting. After marriage, my husband and I moved to Corvallis, OR for his graduate program in Chemistry, Physics and Math. After a PhD, we moved our family of five to East Brunswick, New Jersey for about 5 years - then we moved to Idaho. I have painted all my life but out west it became a passion. From Mid-America and from Coast to Coast I have enjoyed and struggled with paint.
My husband and I flew to New York City in 2006 to receive my signature membership in the American Watercolor Society (AWS). In 2012 we flew to California where I received my signature membership in the National Watercolor Society (NWS). Years ago, I'd earned the Transparent Watercolor Society of America (TWSA), Watercolor West (WW), Knickerbocker Artists USA (KA) and the Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS). Collecting all these signature memberships has been a life-time achievement goal. Now, I'm working on Plein Air achievements as a new goal.
I've not had college training in art, but have had the privilege of taking workshops from some of the great American Watercolorists.  I have painted thousands of paintings and knew that library books were gentle and knowledgeable teachers.  I've always considered my drawing-board my classroom, and love the image of being a perpetual student.  Thousands of paintings become un-purchasable knowledge.  I'm so grateful my life has allowed me to explore the world of watercolors in particular, and art in general.  Drawing and painting is an incredible way to stand in awe of this planet and our life on it.

I am a lifer, meaning I have painted all my life.  I believe in goal setting and love having goals to work on.  I enjoy teaching week-long workshops around the country.  For ten long years I worked toward building The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho which has been open since 2002 and is thriving.  My work has been juried into over 65 national and international watercolor exhibits.  I have published two books;
         "I Think ~ Therefore I Art"   and  "Four Decades of Paintings and Poems"
